"Meet and greet..."

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)

How wonderful it must have been when the disciples realized that Jesus was truly the son of God!  We have so many star-struck people in our society, so many paying for a chance to "meet & greet" the big names in the entertainment world.  The status of being able to say "I met him or her".  Truly believing they are now "friends", simply because they paid for an opportunity to meet and have a photo taken.  I prefer to savor the few wonderful moments I've had in my lifetime that were true "meet and greets" - the ones that weren't planned - the moments that you know that "star" will remember simply because it was different.

We all have the opportunity to "meet and greet" our Savior!  We have the opportunity to walk in his ways, to learn his Word and to shine because of it.  To say I am a "Christian" is to know that Jesus does, in fact, know your name and is a part of your life - not just a "photo op" after Sunday service.  It is a relationship that does not require you to pay money...it's free!  It's a relationship that continues to shower you with blessings...a relationship of love.

Meeting celebrities is exciting, but meeting Jesus is ultimately more exciting and fulfilling than meeting any other man, woman or child can elicit!  No one else can offer salvation.  No one else can offer eternity.  No one else will ever know the depth of the love in your heart.  No one but Jesus!  He became a living, breathing man - for us!  He walked the earth - for us!  He paid a price no man has ever come close to paying - for us!  His sacrifice gave us life!  His life gives us hope!  In that hope lies the greatest gift we could ever hope to receive!
