"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed." (James 1:13-14)
Being a devoted and committed Christian does not exclude us from temptation. Sometimes the remark "why is God tempting me" spills out of our mouths as we fight to maintain our footing. God does not tempt us, however, he tests us by allowing Satan to tempt us. He allows this for the purpose of strengthening our faith and our commitment to Jesus! We can resist by asking for strength from our Creator.
Our life style, the way we choose to live, is fraught with temptation every day. The whisperings of the enemy tempt us to include sinful things in our lives. He also tempts us to excluded holy things from our lives. He is a very cunning adversary whose devices should never be underestimated. He has but one goal in life (our lives) and that is to separate us from God.
Pray for courage and strength, as well as discernment of what is from God and what is from the enemy. Know, again, that whatever comes to you, be it a blessing or a temptation, has passed through the hands of the Almighty first!
