"Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts." (Mal 3:1)
There are two messengers mentioned in this verse. The first is generally understood to be John the Baptist. The second messenger is Jesus, the Messiah. Both Malachi and John prepared the way for Jesus.
During the Christmas season, many speak about making a place for Jesus in one's heart. Why is it only at Christmastime that "Jesus" is acceptable? Should we not make a place in our heart for him all the time? Should we not carry that "giving" spirit with us all year? Just as many are only thankful in November, many are also only joyous and giving in December.
Prepare yourselves to celebrate the season of giving by doing just that! Give a little of what you have to someone who does not. Share a little of your time with someone who is alone, or lonely. Make someone's day better. If it is more blessed to to give than to receive, think of how much more blessed you will be if you give of yourself!
