"Only begotten"...the only unique Son of God. We are all sons and daughters of God, yet only Jesus has that special relationship with him. He IS God, made human, to suffer and die for our sins!
God made the rules, we broke the rules, God made it right for us. The sin of our ancestors has been wiped away. We only need believe and ask for a gift given to us without any cost to us. The price was paid, in blood, so very long ago.
As we close in on the celebration of the birth of Jesus, remember that gift was the beginning of God's promise to us. We try to replicate that by buying the most expensive things available. No matter what any of us spends on gifts, it will never compare to the first Christmas gift ever given to all of us - the gift of life ever after. God gave from his heart...shouldn't we do the same?
