~ "Thoughts of prayer..."

Ask the former generations and find out what their fathers learned, for we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow. (Job 8:8-9)

Life is short. We are given a certain amount of days to accomplish all that the Lord has planned for us. "We've no less days to sing His praise" - our days are numbered. Whether we start when He calls us, or years later, we have only an allotted time frame in which to do what we're called to do.

Merriam-Webster defines prayer as "an address (as a petition) to God or a god in word or thought". Please note that even the dictionary discerns the difference between God and everyone else. My question is this: When are people going to wake up and realize that prayer for a Christian means praying ONLY TO GOD THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT??? What part of that are so many having difficulty with?

There are more than enough verses in God's word (aka THE BIBLE) that tell us that we are to offer prayer only to HIM. Spend time talking to Him, not someone who can neither hear you nor bless you. How much time do you spend in prayer? Is it with your morning coffee? Is it in the car on the way to work? Is it when something terrible is beginning to unfold? Is it just a passing statement that you make? Do you read His word daily, or just listen on Sundays when your preacher reads it before beginning his sermon? Is His word the book that you read to fall asleep by?

Start your day with your Creator! Ask Him to fill your day with His will, not yours. Approach everything you do as if He were standing right beside you (which, by the way, He is) watching over your shoulder. Do all that you do for His glory (even if it's cleaning toilets, mopping floors, answering phones or making beds). Sing His praises on the way to work. Take Him to lunch with you. Ride home with Him after work and invite Him to dinner. Ask Him to sit with you while you spend time with your family. Let Him tuck you in at night as you thank Him for the day you've been blessed with. Keep Him as close to you as you are to Him. Make Him as important to you as your soul is to Him. Put God first, above everything and everyone. Put His work before your own. Make Jesus the center of your life and the shadows of your life will be brighter than the darkest night. Let that light shine!
