As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. (Matt 9:9)
Jesus called Matthew and he followed. No hesitation, no turning back. Even in spite of all the chatter that he was a tax collector, an enemy of the people (so to speak), a man that was not a friend to the working man.
How many times does Jesus call us to follow him? How often do we use that phrase "hang on, just one minute" when we are called into his service? He needs us now! He needs us to spread his word and do his work now - not in a minute or two, or a day or a week - NOW! The time for taking it slow has long past. He builds an army of soldiers to take up the battle. Lay your burdens at his nail scared feet and take up his cross ~ the victory is already won - we know how it's going to end (talk about spoilers)! The only decision we need to make is to serve, without hesitation, without fear, without conditions. God has a plan! Be a part of the victory ~ be a servant to the Lord and he will reward you!
