I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. (Rev 3:11)
Those of us who grew up in the 60's know exactly who said the title of today's note! A small, but effective little critter named Mighty Mouse! Champion of the people! He's beat down his arch-enemy, Oil Can Harry, every time! He always won!
Today, people blame the violence that was our television experience, on the problems of the world. We live in a violent society. It's been that way since the beginning when Cain killed Abel (and they didn't have television).
We all needed a superhero when we were kids ~ be it Mighty Mouse, Superman, Batman, the Lone Ranger, the Power Puff Girls, Power Rangers, Transformers or any of the other billions of cartoon characters whose job it was to save the world from evil.
Not so unlike Christ (and no, I am NOT comparing him to a cartoon mouse). He is my hero! He fought the good fight and won! He took the punishment for my sins and freed me from the enemy (Satan). He's given me many things over the years, but the most important thing I've received is my salvation. The speaker I heard last night said two things that stuck in my mind...Am I doing all I could be doing for the Lord (my answer - NOT) and "I AM BLESSED" (which I am)! I have no excuse for not being all I can be to serve God! I choose to be lazy sometimes in my service to him!
"I'll be back" (and not with an Austrian accent) he tells us! I'm holding on to my faith and spreading his word - but it's time to do more than that! It's time to stand up and be counted for! It's time to stop asking for selfish and trivial things and start counting my blessings and being all that HE needs me to be! Are you willing to make the same commitment to him?
