~ "the devil made me do it..."

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. (James 1:13-14)

God does not tempt us. He doesn't sit on his throne and think "what can I do to THAT one today to see how much he loves me?" That comes from Satan.

When we are tempted, what ever comes to us in whatever form it comes, has to pass through God first. We are his children. He protects us even in our temptation. He knows exactly what we can bear so the verse in 1 Corinthians 10:13, roughly translated, is true: God will not give us what we cannot handle. And when we fall short of ourselves, he again renews us and forgives us - he wipes away our tears and cleanses us of the sin. Sometimes, we create our own problems, and Satan feeds off of them. Still, God watches over us. He knows in our heart that we want so much to please him and accept the gifts he gives us, yet in our temptations he teaches us restraint. Restraint of the material world, restraint of the flesh and restraint of the heart. He created us to be a partner to someone and when we get frustrated and lonely, we reach out to anyone or anything to fill the void. Be patient. He's not finished with you yet. He has plans for you that exceed your wildest dreams. He wants so much for you to be his first, then someone wife or husband. Be faithful to his words and he will bestow more grace and blessings on you than you can imagine.

"Be still and know that I am GOD!" (Psalm 46:10)
