~ "Labor Day..."

So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. (Gen 3:23)

When Tom Waits wrote the lyrics for the "Dwarfs' Marching Song", aka "Hi-Ho-Hi-Ho", I don't think he could have ever imagined that it would be quoted at least once a day by someone and it would impact society in such a way that we would continue humming and singing it for decades. When Larry Morey wrote the lyrics for "Whistle While You Work", I doubt he realized it's impact either. Two songs written for a Disney movie for kids that have continued to be popular for over 70 years! They capture the spirit in which we should pursue our "work" - whether we work the land or the computer - we should be singing! No, not the Disney classics, the praises of our Heavenly Father!

We were banished from the life of leisure. It is sin that has caused us to labor and work for our daily sustenance. We will continue to labor up until the time we are called home. "Labor" for the Lord is constant and continues throughout our lives. It is not something we can "retire" from, it's a work in progress - always. We are called upon to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all we come in contact with. Until the Gospel has been heard by each and every soul on the earth...and with the technology of the times, that time is coming soon.

Rest today from your labor, enjoy a day with family and friends - but don't forget for one minute that the Lord above has promised to provide for you. If you are unemployed, use that time to honor the God. He will not leave you to starve or go without shelter, although sometimes it seems that way. Submit to His will and His plan for you and you will inherit the kingdom! Trust in Him to make a way for you...He always does! Don't allow the enemy to discourage you from praising God in your sorrows and your disappointments - it is in those times that you truly shine, because God does not abandon those whom He loves!!!
